US Catholic Bishops Publically Shame President Trump Today At Church

A contents of a letter from the US Catholic Bishops was deep throated into the gullets of the Catholic laity today at church.  In the letter, US Catholic Bishops shamed President Trump and his supporters for his executive order which seeks to delay refugee and immigrant admission into the United States.

Here are the contents of the letter:

“We strongly disagree with the Executive Order’s halting refugee admissions. We believe that now more than ever, welcoming newcomers and refugees is an act of love and hope. We will continue to engage the new administration, as we have all administrations for the duration of the current refugee program, now almost forty years. We will work vigorously to ensure that refugees are humanely welcomed in collaboration with Catholic Charities without sacrificing our security or our core values as Americans, and to ensure that families may be reunified with their loved ones.”

“The United States has long provided leadership in resettling refugees. We believe in assisting all those who are vulnerable and fleeing persecution, regardless of their religion. This includes Christians, as well as Yazidis and Shia Muslims from Syria, Rohingyas from Burma, and other religious minorities. However, we need to protect all our brothers and sisters of all faiths, including Muslims, who have lost family, home, and country. They are children of God and are entitled to be treated with human dignity. We believe that by helping to resettle the most vulnerable, we are living out our Christian faith as Jesus has challenged us to do.”

“Today, more than 65 million people around the world are forcibly displaced from their homes. Given this extraordinary level of suffering, the U.S. Catholic Bishops will redouble their support for, and efforts to protect, all who flee persecution and violence, as just one part of the perennial and global work of the Church in this area of concern.”

President Trump’s executive order is for a delay of 120 days, not a “halting” of refugee admissions.

That Catholic Bishops feel they have to not only interfere with the policies of a duly elected US President, but to outright lie about his intentions is beyond stunning.

Most of the people at my church voted for President Trump and after the letter was read there was nothing but stone cold, bitter silence.

  1. I guess the church doesn’t want to support another Hitler. They blundered last time, but now they evidently know what to look for.

    1. John,

Thanks for dropping by, but the Hitler Hallucination Suite is three doors down.

  2. The Catholic Church does a lot of good in many areas but their devotion to left wing policies (naivety of?) is just tiring. A very good case can be made that pausing immigration from these countries IS the compassionate thing to do and foolishly letting refugees in without proper vetting is cruel.

What do we call people who substitute weeping emotion for rational thought? Helen Thomas, a White House reporter ironic invented the expression when she told us how much her heart bleeds.

It is an unfortunately fact of life, but lots of clerics are bleeding hearts. Europe is being overrun by people who do not have any use for democracy. Once their government collapses, where are the Europeans supposed to go? Here? Why would want more brainless fools. Don’t we have enough already?

Seriously, when you play chess, to win you have to think 4 – 5 moves ahead. If we accept millions of refugees, I agree that solves the immediate problem. We have already put who even knows how many such people on welfare, and we are still not bankrupt. Just the same, if we keep accepting refugees and putting them on welfare, the consequences are readily predicable. The refugees will vote Democrat. That’s why the Democrats want them.

In addition, because our taxes are already out of sight because of expensive heath, education, and welfare programs, absorbing endless refugees will just cause our economy will fold up and close shop. We will also become a multilingual nation, a tower of Babel (That’s why the European Union never had a chance.). The collapse will be complete when our government becomes tyrannical. That is the only way it will be able to maintain order. If you have any doubts about the tyrannical part, consider all the disruptions the Democrats are causing Trump. The jackasses are deliberately trying to make the country ungovernable, and they think that is a smart move. The Nazis did the same sort of thing to the Weimar Republic.

      2. So, so, true Citizen Tom! I once had doubts about tyranny ever coming to our country but not after the last 8 years . Obama was not a dictator only because our Constitution and divided still offers protection against this (albeit shrinking every day). What Democrats can’t win legislatively or at the ballot box they take to the courts that are stuffed with progressives, thus we get Trump’s EO on refugees being halted.

They are all running around like nitwits screaming their heads off about Trump being a fascists, authoritarian etc….yet could give a rats you know what when their man Barack was at the helm and dangerously expanding hi executive powers. In a way you could say the Democrats created a path for Trump to harness much more power than he would have had they not been so irresponsible.

        1. Hypocrites, people who only pretend to be highly and even perfectly moral, cannot make a constitutional republic work. The reason is simple enough. They won’t truly abide by the constitution. They will only make the pretense that that is what they are doing. Meanwhile, they will accuse their opponents of every damned thing they can imagined.

Still, the proof of their duplicity comes from their own lips. It is they, to excuse their lies, who call the Constitution a “living document”. With those two words they render the Constitution meaningless, and they think themselves clever. Yet with those two words they also expose the proof of all their own lies.

      3. Citizen,

It is way past bothersome that the Establishment of the Catholic Church doesn’t value the facts anymore and that Progressivism, not Catholic Christianity is the religion they practice.

The Good Book calls that idolatry.

And that is a crying shame.

I have been reviewing the decision the Ninth Circuit Court made on Trump’s Executive Order that barred giving visas to folks from seven countries for several months. The judges actually assert that the Constitution gives foreigners 5th Amendment rights. That’s lunacy! It is basically saying that any one who wants to come to the United States is welcome to do so.
